Climate and best time to visit

The Peloponnese peninsula has a warm Mediterranean climate with warm dry summers and mild winters. Messinia has the mildest climate on the Greek mainland with many hours of sunshine. This combined with the high quality of the soil and rainfall during winter results in an extremely fertile green landscape all year around.

The alternating sandy beaches, rocky coasts and mountains provide an impressive landscape. And together with the characteristic friendly, hospitable and picturesque coastal villages provide the typical Mediterranean relaxed atmosphere and experience.

Wild flowers between the countless olive trees start to sprout at the beginning of February. April and May are undoubtedly the most beautiful months when many plants and trees are in bloom and the sea is usually warm enough for a swim, while many mountain tops are still covered in snow.

The summer months are pleasantly busy with Greeks people celebrating their holidays on the peninsula as well. September and October are wonderful because they are more quiet and the sea is still nice and warm, ideal to extend your summer feeling!

Messinia also lends itself well for overwintering. The period November to February are roughly comparable to the climate in southern Spain, Tunisia and Turkey. Most rain falls between mid-November and the end of December.
